computational fluid dynamics

Welcome to the CFD & Ocean Process Modelling site at the University of California San Diego, Scripps Institution of Oceanography and Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

  • You can read the articles and peruse the image galleries by following the links below What's here... in the upper left corner.

If you'd like to post your work or thoughts in the form of a short note or article or simply share your latest fluid flow images, email me for an account and then use the Create content  menu that will appear in the upper right corner after you log in.

I particularly encourage contributions, brief or extensive, regarding applications of the numerical codes, everything from configuration experiences on specific platforms to interesting experimental setups to scientific analysis and visualizations of results to diagnosis of or questions regarding numerical instabilities encountered.

If you want to access my *work in progress* numerical code flow_solve, send me an email at the address below. You can read about it's status and capabilities in the Articles section (link in top left corner). Current projects and collaborations with this code involve nonlinear waves evolving from an internal tide, internal waves on the 'non-traditional' beta plane, topographic wave generation and comparisons with laboratory experiments, addition of an LES model, generalization of the equation of state and performance analysis/parallel scalability studies.

Suggestions and advice of course are always appreciated.

As usual, this site is a work in progress.
